WANT TO SAY YES WHEN YOU HAVE ALWAYS SAID NO?

T-minus 3 days until 2017 (gulp). Have you made your New Years Resolutions/Goals yet? If you answered no, high five and keep reading.

This question is never my favorite. My answer usually is no and my action steps towards changing that answer non-existent. The painful goal-setting process never resulted in anything that resonated with me. What if there was another way?

IT DOESN'T HAVE TO BE PAINFUL

I have attended Paige Nolan’s “Live What Matters” workshops (bless her and sign up for one here) that opened my eyes to a different method. She encouraged me to focus more on how I want to feel in the next three, six, twelve months not what I want to do.

Grateful? Spontaneous? Home? Loved? Calm? Organized? Could any of these words describe how you want to feel? Here’s how to find out: 

1.     Download the list of words.
2.     Highlight 10-15 that stand out.
3.     Narrow list down to three.
4.     Think of three actions you could take to achieve that feeling.
5.     Celebrate having resolutions.

{One of my words is BALANCE. To achieve that I will increase nanny's hours to 25/week, ask hubby to handle morning routine one day/week, and go to yoga two times/week.}

GETTING IT DONE

Ask my mom friends…I challenged them to do this at dinner after we discussed preschool drama long enough. We each chose one word and two actions we could take to get there. That conversation became so real, that dinner so powerful and those relationships became that much more.

So as we head into 2017, what will YOUR words be? And what will YOU do to achieve them?
