QUICK TIP TO {ACTUALLY} TACKLE TO DOS

QUICK TIP TO {ACTUALLY} TACKLE TO DOS

Thank you notes need to be written. Flights need to be booked. Kate needs to be enrolled in summer camp. Your mammogram needs to be scheduled. Your to do list is endless.

You know what needs to get done because things are in their very specific pile (or maybe a lot of piles), in an extensive mental list (keeping you up at night), or stored in a great app, like Teux Deux. Whatever your method, the list is there but you aren’t actually getting any of these things done.

HOW TO ENTERTAIN 100 PEOPLE FOR $150

HOW TO ENTERTAIN 100 PEOPLE FOR $150

Spring (and lately it seems like summer) is here. Kids are out playing in the front, back and middle-of-the-street yards. Patios and barbecues are in use and for my neighborhood, the weekly block party is about to begin.

Yes….our neighborhood has a party every Friday night, 6 months out of the year. If you have wanted to plan something like this but have a few excuses reasons not to --- not enough space, don’t want that many people in your house, too expensive --- it’s time to throw away those excuses and start planning. Here’s how we do it.

HEALING OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH THINGS

There is a first time for everything and this was my first time being a guest on a podcast. You may ask - how is Laura a healer? What does she heal? How could she help me without being in my house?

Aha. I heal the relationship we have to our things and our stuff. I want to encourage and empower you to make changes on your own, to break old habits and ultimately, to see the benefits of living with less mess so you can have more life.

I have heard from many who have started making changes while listening. Could you be next?

WHAT IF?

WHAT IF?

It’s Saturday. And you have said you are going to purge your closet, purge the garage, purge your life. You’re cruising along and then bam, the used-once-a-decade camping gear, New Year's Eve party supplies from the new millennium, extra coolers, old suitcases or the jeans that are two sizes too small appear.

And you freeze. You can’t get rid of it because your pesky inner voice says… “What if I need it? What if I lose the weight? What if we have a big party? What if…? What if…?”

MY FAVORITE ORGANIZING PRODUCT IS....

MY FAVORITE ORGANIZING PRODUCT IS....

A very common question - what is your favorite organizing product?

To answer - picture this. Peacefully (of course), you walk in the door with mail in one hand, kids backpacks in the other (permission slips to sign falling out) and your purse barely hanging onto your wrist for dear life.

Welcome home! You now have magazines to read, husband's mail to put somewhere and kids papers/homework in a heap. It all ends up in one pile on the counter because let's be honest, that's just what happens. So what to do?

CAN A COUCH CHANGE YOUR RELATIONSHIP?

CAN A COUCH CHANGE YOUR RELATIONSHIP?

We all know the nightly family routine. Dinner. Bath. Bedtime.

Finally, after the work is done and the kids are down you look up only to realize your husband {who you haven't seen all day} is in a different room reading/internet-ing while you browse the latest night time tv with laptop on lap…alone. And we blamed it on our couch.

There must be a better way. This precious time together without children must be valued more. I have built my career on the statement – change your home, change your life. And it was time to change ours.

Relatives are asking for wish lists from the kids. Neighborhood party needs to be planned. Holiday cards need to be sent out. House needs to be decorated. The to do list is greater than ever. Wow. Must be the holidays.

Less Mess. More Life. is built on the concept of taking the chaos out of a person’s home and ultimately, life. We created our free playbook "How to Calm the Holiday Chaos" to share some of our favorite time-saving tricks, decorating tips and other tools to help create a calmer holiday season.

HOW TO STAY CALM THIS WEEK

HOW TO STAY CALM THIS WEEK

This week has been a crazy one (and not just for obvious reasons). Emotions are running high as unexpected things are happening all around - good and bad.

Opportunities are presenting themselves – the opportunity to breathe and get perspective, to choose love, to change, to take a risk, to stay the same.

Children are behaving – good and bad. I am either being Fun Mom or wondering how to get through the next hour. It’s called life.

WHY MY SON’S LUNCHBOX COSTS MORE THAN MY OUTFIT

WHY MY SON’S LUNCHBOX COSTS MORE THAN MY OUTFIT

Five mornings a week a lot of us do the same thing. Sigh about packing lunch(es). Dig for containers to pack lunch. And then, finally, pack the lunch. It gets old – quickly.

I hated packing lunches mainly because I never had the right, or enough of, the right container. Dirty containers, lost lids or my husband snagging the good sandwich Tupperware, I was always digging…and annoyed by it.
